Tutt Library partnered with the College's Common Read Program in 2018. The Common Read Program, (http://4br.softlawinternationale.net/other/fye/common-reading/), creates an intellectual model for incoming students to engage in discussion building on the college's academic values.
For 2018-2019, the Common Reading is Frankenstein; or, The Modern Prometheus by Mary Shelley. For the display on the first floor, a librarian selected books from the collection that tie into themes from the novel. The materials cover a wide array of topics covering many subject areas of the main collection. Circulation staff processed the books for the display. This display was registered with a national initiative Frankenreads (http://frankenreads.org/).
The Special Collections Archivist selected items from that collection focusing on Frankenstein. Including an art book and copies of pages of other items. She will also host instruction for a class offered by a professor in the English Department that will work with materials in Special Collections during the fall of 2018.
